Rosie Best is in her seventh year of teaching at Toledo School for the Arts, and as her license plate attests, TSAROX! Rosie was born and educated in England, but is no stranger to working with young people. Initially Rosie trained in informal education at the YMCA National College in London, and then completed a year of seminary, also in London. Rosie graduated Magna cum Laude in Theatre from the University of Toledo, and completed her Master of Arts in Teaching Theatre at BGSU. This summer Rosie had the pleasure of studying for a month at the School for Film and Television in NYC.

This summer Rosie also made a preliminary trip to Scotland's Edinburgh Fringe Festival, in preparation for the TSA trip next month. It is a great honor to have been chosen to represent American High School Theatre at the Festival through the organization AHSTF (see www.AHSTF.com). We will be traveling to Edinburgh next August and will have opportunities to see London, and to perform 4 times at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We will be the first school to represent the Toledo Area.

Rosie's current teaching assignment are Theatre 1 (7th grade), Theatre 2 (8th grade), Foundations 1 & 2, and Advanced Acting. She is also the Troupe Director for International Thespian Troupe #6793 (which is the TSA senior division thespians). The senior high production company is named UNDERSTUDY, a company dedicated to pursuing the best in theatre. Recent school productions have included The Crucible, Don't Drink the Water, Heidi Chronicles, and a regular One Acts Performance. This year we will be tackling the work of Agatha Christie's The Hollow.

Among her favorite roles, Rosie lists... Sylvia (in Sylvia), Hippolyta (in Midsummer Night's Dream), Lady Croom (in Arcadia), Romaine Patterson (in The Laramie Project) and the Nurse (in Romeo and Juliet). She is also regularly involved in local production's and has enjoyed appearing with some of her students in Toledo Rep's Production of Christmas Carol, and West Side Story (where she appeared as the big Easter Egg!)

On September 18th, 2006, Rosie became a US citizen, a ceremony witnessed by the Government classes of Mr. Ulrich, it was a great event to be able to share with her students.
