Toledo School for the Arts is a community public school (charter school) whose charge is focused on the visual and performing arts. The school opened in September 1999 and is located in Toledo, Ohio. The school enrolls grades 6 through 12. TSA is a public school that accepts enrollment of any Ohio secondary student with no tuition costs. Its sponsor is the Toledo Board of Education.
In addition to core academic subjects, classes are offered in dance, music, theater and visual arts. TSA offers students opportunities to work with professional artists to expand their art experiences and knowledge. TSA has "ARTnerships" with Toledo's major cultural institutions, such as the Performing Arts Council of Toledo, Toledo Ballet, Toledo Opera, Toledo Repertoire Theatre, the Toledo Symphony, WGTE-TV, Trinity Church, the Toledo Zoological Gardens, and the Toledo Museum of Art, as well as the Valentine Theater, and the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library.
TSA provides traditional education in a non-traditional environment. The School is located in downtown Toledo and the students consider the downtown to be the TSA campus. TSA operates at 333 14th Street. The space has been newly renovated with classrooms, computer labs, dance, music and acting studios, art rooms and rehearsal spaces.
TSA students excel in academic achievement while continuously winning awards and scholarships for their success in the performing and visual arts.
