Theatre Faculty
Jeremy Allen has been involved in technical theatre for the last 15 years. His experiences have spanned both coasts and ranged from design, live sound, recording, lighting and sometimes even the all night truck driver (with red bull in hand). His work has involved all genres of the arts from touring bands and symphonies to Shakespeare and modern dance pieces. Jeremy received a Bachelors degree in Technical Theatre from Campbell University, where he was the resident sound and recording engineer. Jeremy made his acting debut in kindergarten in his front page, Tony award winning roll as Jack in "Jack and Jill". After spending his entire high-school career torn between tech and acting, he finally gave in to buttons and knobs over vocal warm-ups and hasn't looked back. His first major job out of college was at Vintage21 Church where he served as their full time Tech Director. While working there he started to build his own clients and after 2 years, left Vintage, sad to go be eager to see what was next. He has been working solely as a freelancer since that day until coming to work here at TSA. Before moving to Toledo in January of 2009, Jeremy was the resident sound designer for Peace College Theatre in Raleigh, NC and a company member with Burning Coal Theatre. He has worked for Hoctor's Dance Caravan as a designer and sound engineer. Having grown up on a farm in Skippers, VA, Jeremy is enjoying the snow and colder weather of NW Ohio.

Rosie Best started teaching Theatre at TSA in the 2001-2002 school year. As far as she's concerned (if you believe her license plate) TSAROX! Rosie was born and educated in England, but is no stranger to working with young people. Trained in both informal (Youth Work) and formal (licensed in Language Arts, Theatre, and Career and Technical Ed.) education, Rosie also completed a year of seminary training in London, England. Rosie has a Bachelor's degree, and a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Theatre. Maybe a perpetual student, she studied for a month at the School for Film and Television in NYC.
In 2008, Rosie took a group of 14 students to perform in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Scotland) accompanied by Jamie Dauel. It was a great honor to be chosen as one of the schools representing American High School Theatre at the Festival. It was a fabulous experience for the students. This was not just an artistic opportunity; it was a cultural, social, and world-expanding trip.
Rosie mainly teaches the Senior Division Acting and Theatre Arts classes, but has also taught all levels of the Junior Division Acting and Theatre classes. She is also the Troupe Director for International Thespian Troupe #6793 (TSA's senior division thespians). The senior high production company is named UNDERSTUDY, a company dedicated to pursuing the best in theatre. Productions have included: The Crucible, Don't Drink the Water, Heidi Chronicles, The Hollow, Much Ado about Nothing, Dancing at Lughnasa, as well as an annual “One Acts” program. Among her favorite roles, Rosie lists Sylvia (Sylvia), Hippolyta (Midsummer Night's Dream), Lady Croom (Arcadia), Romaine Patterson (The Laramie Project) and the Nurse (Romeo and Juliet). She is also regularly involved in local production's and has enjoyed appearing with some of her students in Toledo Rep's Production of Christmas Carol, and West Side Story (where she appeared as the big Easter Egg!)
On September 18th, 2006, Rosie became a US citizen, a ceremony witnessed by the Government classes of Mr. Ulrich (a former Social Studies Teacher), it was a great event to be able to share with the students.
